The Scorpion Kick Trick/Lift Class w/Aaron & Hanna
Requirement: You must bring your own partner to this class. Please include your partner’s name during the checkout process.
Please be in good health and be prepared for a demanding class. Wear comfy shoes and clothing. Appropriate for any partner dance genre to incorporate into their dancing, customarily in jams, routines, performances, and just plain old fun. Not advisable for the social floor.
Limited spaceSocial Rides and Tricks - Less Death Defying Tricks w/ Rye & Carla - A Social Dance Class
Keeping it on the floor with rides, dips, and things that will only moderately give your muscles a workout. We will focus on socially leadable rides and tricks. Probably a good idea to have some sort of swing dance experience prior to this class.
These ideas will be appropriate for all styles of swing dance; both lindy dancers and Westie dancers can benefit from this class (as well as some other styles of dance, too).
No Partner Needed

About the Bands
Parlour Noir
Since 2017, Parlour Noir has been a well-spring of traditional jazz music from the historic Mt. Airy district of Philadelphia, PA. The eccentric six-piece ensemble brings joy and energy to the stage across a variety of venues, from bombastic swing dance weekends to intimate restaurant settings. Comprised of vocals, horns, piano, banjo, drums, and upright bass, the band swings hard through a repertoire that spans 1922-1945, including a handful of original tunes made specifically for the dance floor. They've now become one of Philadelphia's premier Swing Bands. Don’t hesitate to say hello during their next band break—they’re happy to chat or a share a drink!
Introducing Shine Delphi
Shine Delphi travels this world with a resonator guitar and a few words to share. Born in Pennsylvania, raised in California, and rebirthed in the crescent city of New Orleans, Shine is a performer that will leave you feeling good and wanting more. From his technical ability on the guitar to his simple yet touching lyrics, he is an act that spans many genres and all ages. He has opened for such bands as The Carolina Chocolate drops, Reverend Peyton's big damn band, and The Tony Rice unit just to name a few. Oh yeah, and there's also that laugh... you can't forget that! HA!

Additional Class Details
You do not need to be a dancer to attend and enjoy this live music event
You have never danced before? Is this okay?
Absolutely. In fact, if you want a taste of it, come to the sampler mini-class included with the event ticket. It starts at 3:30pm-4:00pm. It wraps up just in time to practice to the live music. You are free to simply sit and listen to the great music
No Partner Needed! Most of our classes do not require a partner as we usually rotate in group classes. However, on Feb 15th, we have one exception to this that does require you to sign up with a partner in advance and it is the Scorpion Kick class. The other classes DO NOT NEED A PARTNER!! :)
Many of our attendees come solo to the events. Some come with significant others. Some come with friends and or in groups. Anything goes and we welcome y’all. Just because this is a Valentine’s event, does not mean you need to come with anyone.
Most of our dancers ask lots of people to dance. So, if you come solo or are looking to dance with others, this is the place to do that! Simply ask someone to dance.
If you want to stay with a chosen partner you arrived with, that is fine, we do encourage rotating in social dance classes, but it is never mandatory. Do what is comfortable for you.
If you simply want to come to the live music portion, that is also fine. It is not mandatory to take a dance class.
Our Level 1, Intro, Tasters, and All Levels classes are all appropriate for new dancers. Often students attend our progressive classes for many consecutive months in order to develop a better understanding of these dance styles, continually build skills for more fun on the social dance floor, and for being part of our community that truly enjoys learning together.
To be respectful of other students, teachers, and staff, we ask that if you arrive late to class, you please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the content before jumping into rotation with others.
