About the Bands

Parlour Noir

Since 2017, Parlour Noir has been a well-spring of traditional jazz music from the historic Mt. Airy district of Philadelphia, PA. The eccentric six-piece ensemble brings joy and energy to the stage across a variety of venues, from bombastic swing dance weekends to intimate restaurant settings. Comprised of vocals, horns, piano, banjo, drums, and upright bass, the band swings hard through a repertoire that spans 1922-1945, including a handful of original tunes made specifically for the dance floor. They've now become one of Philadelphia's premier Swing Bands. Don’t hesitate to say hello during their next band break—they’re happy to chat or a share a drink!

Introducing Shine Delphi

Shine Delphi travels this world with a resonator guitar and a few words to share. Born in Pennsylvania, raised in California, and rebirthed in the crescent city of New Orleans, Shine is a performer that will leave you feeling good and wanting more. From his technical ability on the guitar to his simple yet touching lyrics, he is an act that spans many genres and all ages. He has opened for such bands as The Carolina Chocolate drops, Reverend Peyton's big damn band, and The Tony Rice unit just to name a few. Oh yeah, and there's also that laugh... you can't forget that! HA!

Additional Class Details

  • Most of our classes do not require a partner as we usually rotate in group classes. However, this time, we do have a class that does require you to sign up with a partner in advance on Feb 15th and it is the Scorpion Kick class.

  • Our Level 1, Intro, Tasters, and All Levels classes are all appropriate for new dancers. Often students attend our progressive classes for many consecutive months in order to develop a better understanding of these dance styles, continually build skills for more fun on the social dance floor, and for being part of our community that truly enjoys learning together.

  • To be respectful of other students, teachers, and staff, we ask that if you arrive late to class, you please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the content before jumping into rotation with others.
